Area Attractions
Fernwood Farm is a short distance from Colgate and Syracuse Universities and five minutes from Cazenovia College. Restaurants, cultural activities, farmers markets and Troyers (Amish) Country Store are available year-round. Cooperstown, Finger Lakes wine country and a host of organized events for sports enthusiasts, including snow skiing, are only a few miles away. Historic sites abound in an area that was once: Six Nations or Haudenosaunee (people of the long house) land (Oneida); Revolutionary War and War of 1812 hotbed; aflame with abolitionist fervor; mid-point of the man-made wonder known as the Erie Canal (barge canal); and the cradle of American agriculture (18th century), industry, and manufacturing (19th and 20th centuries).
